1. The 10th North Africa oil exhibition will be rescheduled

The 10th North Africa (Algeria) international oil exhibition, originally scheduled to be held in mid March 2021, was postponed to September 27-30 due to the latest situation of global pandemic and the attitude of being responsible for the safety and health of all participants.

 

2. Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have signed an agreement to jointly develop the longstanding disputed dotlog oilfield

Last week, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan reached an agreement on cooperation in exploration and development of the dostlug oil and gas field in the Caspian Sea, paving the way for extensive cooperation in the future.

The dostlug field was discovered in 1986, and the industry estimates that it contains natural gas and at least 50 million tons of oil. For years, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have been fighting for ownership of the field, which is located near the border between the Caspian seas of the two countries.

 

3. Eni obtains new North Sea license

Eni group of Italy (Eni) reported on Tuesday that it has obtained a production license for the new block in the 32nd round of British offshore licensing project, with an initial exploration period of six years. Eni UK will assume the responsibility of operator with 100% participation interest.

 

4. Saudi ACWA power to build two wind farms in Uzbekistan

Saudi energy company ACWA power and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of energy signed an investment agreement to build two wind farms with a total capacity of 1000 MW in Navoi and Bukhara regions. The two sides have reached a strategic framework agreement to develop research programs and projects in the field of hydrogen and renewable energy to support Uzbekistan’s ongoing efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as part of its global commitment to the Paris Agreement.

 

5. Tenaris will provide coated risers for the bacalhau offshore field in Brazil

Tenaris, the world’s largest steel pipe company, has signed an agreement with sub sea 7, an EPC company, to provide pipeline and coating services for the bacalhau project in Brazil. The bacalhau project, operated by equinor, is 185 km (115 miles) off the coast of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Bacalhau oil field was discovered in 2012 in the subsalt area of Santos basin, with a depth of about 2050 m (6725 ft).

 

6. Kazakhstan’s gasoline export volume will increase 10 times in 2020

According to the data released by Kazakhstan’s National Bureau of statistics, from January to November 2020, Kazakhstan exported 26.3 million US dollars of gasoline, 10 times of the same period last year. The main export destination is Kyrgyzstan, accounting for 96.4% of Kazakhstan’s total gasoline exports to the member countries of Eurasian Economic Union.

 

7. IEA sets up global organization to deal with energy transformation

The International Energy Agency (IEA) announced the establishment of a Global Commission on the 26th to address the impact of the shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy on employment and society.

 

8. Saudi Arabia plans to stop using crude oil to generate electricity

Saudi energy minister Prince Abdel Aziz bin Salman said on Monday that Saudi Arabia is trying to replace oil power generation with solar and gas power generation, referring to the Saudi energy ministry’s strategy.

 

9. Pipeline shortages have led to a surge in Canadian oil exports by rail

Canada’s exports of crude oil transported by rail in November surged 87% from the previous month, with producers having no choice but to cope with the country’s long-term shortage of pipeline capacity.
