1. Baker Hughes and akastor ASA set up a global offshore drilling joint venture

Baker Hughes and akastor ASA announced an agreement to form a joint venture to merge Baker Hughes’ subsea drilling systems business with akastor’s wholly-owned subsidiary mhwirth as. The joint venture will provide a full range of global offshore drilling equipment services, providing customers with a wide range of products and services portfolio.

 

2. Samsung won Qatar oil’s $2 billion EPC contract for LNG storage and loading facilities

Qatar Petroleum announced that it will award Samsung an EPC contract to expand its LNG storage and loading facility in Ras Laffan industrial city as part of the north oil and gas field east project (NFE).

The scope of the contract includes three LNG tanks and three LNG loading berths for NFE, two LNG tanks and one LNG berth for NFS project and all related pipelines, lines and loading lines.

The contract, worth more than $2 billion, is the second continental EPC contract for NFE projects.

 

3. API is expected to support carbon pricing

The American Petroleum Institute is considering supporting US authorities in pricing carbon dioxide emissions to slow global warming while helping to keep energy prices reasonable, rather than compulsory or regulatory action. This is a major policy shift for the industry’s top institutions.

 

4. Oceaneering wins US Gulf of Mexico drilling service contract

Oceanearing announced that its underwater robot and offshore project team has won a comprehensive drilling service contract covering the khaleesi / Mormont and samurai fields in the Gulf of Mexico.

The scope of work includes the provision of remotely operated vehicles equipped with ROV tools and technicians, remote positioning and metering survey resources, and installation and workover control system equipment and technicians. The work is planned to start in early 2021 and continue until 2022.

 

5. Colombia updates fracking auction terms

Recently, Anh, Colombia’s hydrocarbon regulator, has updated the bidding and contract terms of its second unconventional oil and gas pilot project auction. The new document extends the deadline for submitting applications for environmental permits and makes other changes to social environmental obligations. It has also developed revised guidelines on counter offers, minimum well commitments and reference prices.

ExxonMobil, Drummond, tecpetrol and Ecopetrol are eligible to bid.

 

6. Aquaterra energy signed a multi million dollar riser workover agreement

Aquaterra energy has signed a multi million dollar riser contract with a shipowner and operator for deep well intervention projects in the Asia Pacific region.

Aquaterra energy will provide a large internal diameter (7 3 / 8 inch) aqc-cw completion and workover riser system with automatic handling tools to operate underwater up to 1500 meters.

 

7. International Energy Agency: global carbon emissions will rise further in 2021

The International Energy Agency (IEA) said in a new report on Tuesday that global energy related carbon dioxide emissions have rebounded strongly after an unprecedented decline in energy demand during the pandemic. According to the report, global carbon emissions in December 2020 increased by 2% compared with the same period in 2019, reaching 60 million tons. The recovery of economic activities has increased energy demand, with major global economies as the main driving factor. The emissions of many economies exceed the level before the COVID-19 crisis.

 

8.US gasoline demand rises to the highest level since the outbreak of the epidemic
