1. Suriname will start international bidding for large-scale offshore oil blocks at the end of the year

Glenn Corrie, vice president of the Suriname national oil company (staatsolie), said last week that Suriname was preparing to tender 60% of the offshore blocks in the next 12 months, and the first tender was planned to be held in the fourth quarter of this year.

Seismic data obtained by Suriname national oil company shows that Suriname basin has about 30billion barrels of oil equivalent reserves. At present, only 40% of offshore oil blocks (about 32million acres) have obtained development licenses, and the remaining 60% of the blocks have not been developed and have great potential.

 

2. Sonatrach found a lot of natural gas in the Sahara Desert

Sonatrach, the Algerian national oil company, announced last Monday that it had discovered 340billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Sahara desert.

The discovery is located near hassir’mel oilfield, 550 kilometers away from Algiers, and is one of the largest discoveries in the country in the past 20 years.

 

3. Lundin was renamed orr ö n energy

Aker BP has completed the US $14billion cash and stock acquisition of Lundin energy oil and gas business, creating an exploration and production company focused solely on the Norwegian continental shelf. From July 1st, 2022, Lundin energy will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aker BP. The subsidiary will be renamed ABP Norway as.

Lundin energy, a Nordic energy company, merged its exploration and production business with Aker BP and changed its name to orr ö n energy to reflect its new position as a purely renewable energy business.

 

4. Gazprom proposes to expand the ruble settlement order

A senior manager of Gazprom said on Monday local time that the company had proposed to expand the scope of the ruble settlement order to include liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Russia accounts for about 8% of the global supply of liquefied natural gas. The annual production of 40billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas mainly comes from Sakhalin 2 and Yamal liquefied natural gas plant in novatek, Russia’s largest liquefied natural gas plant. Russia took action last week to control the operation of the Sakhalin 2 LNG plant in response to Western sanctions.
